Weichai Showcases 4 Power Solutions at 25th Beijing Petroleum Expo

With profound technical expertise, Weichai brought four star products: the WP13 methanol engine for industrial power, WP15H diesel engine for industrial power, 16M33 diesel engine for industrial power, and 12M55 gas engine for industrial power, demonstrating its strong capabilities in the petroleum and petrochemical fields.

It is well known in the industry that Weichai focuses on six major business segments: power systems, commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, construction machinery, smart logistics, and marine transportation equipment. Its products are applied in diverse scenarios with complex working environments.
In the petroleum and petrochemical industry, China's oil resources are mainly distributed in terrains such as plains, shallow seas, deserts, and Gobi regions, while natural gas resources are found in shallow seas, deserts, mountains, plains, and Gobi areas, imposing special requirements on operational equipment.
Weichai technical personnel explained that, just as commercial vehicle power applications require analysis of road conditions, industrial power products must also adapt to working conditions. During product development, factors such as high temperatures, high pressure, and altitude must be considered, while complying with non-road engine emission standards and meeting users' specific requirements for power, economy, reliability, and maintenance cycles.
The four power solutions exhibited by Weichai are all suitable for environments such as oilfield power generation and well servicing, supporting fuels including diesel, LNG, and methanol. These are customized products developed by Weichai based on industry demands for power, environmental protection, and cost-effectiveness.
Among them, Weichai's gas power station solutions were particularly attractive, drawing crowds of professional visitors from domestic and international markets. Staff stated that Weichai is one of China's earliest manufacturers of power generation units, producing diesel, heavy oil, natural gas, biogas, and associated gas generators with an annual capacity of 50,000 units. Its gas-powered products cover a power range of 30-2800kWe and are widely used in oil and gas fields, industrial plants, and mining enterprises. In particular, the effective development of engines, motors, and control systems provides leading green power solutions for diverse needs.
Energy-Efficient, Durable, and Economical Enhancing Industrial Power
Adapted to petroleum and petrochemical applications, the four engines showcased on-site are representative products of Weichai in this field.
Among them, the 12M55 gas engine for industrial power has a displacement of 65.65L and a rated power of 1588kW, used for power generation units and gas compression units in oil and gas fields. It features compacted graphite iron engine blocks and cylinder heads that can withstand higher in-cylinder burst pressures. With optimized structural design, smart ignition technology, advanced control systems, and mature control strategies, it ensures longer component lifespan, more reliable operation, and automated unmanned control.
The 16M33 diesel engine for industrial power, applied in power generation and well cementing, has a displacement of 52.3L and a rated power of 1800kW. It adopts a grid-structured cylinder block, high-strength alloy steel crankshaft, efficient quad-turbocharging system, electronically controlled high-pressure common rail fuel system, and modular design, delivering strong reliability, power, economy, and maintenance convenience. Custom configurations developed for oilfield needs enable operation in environments as cold as -40°C.
The WP15H diesel engine for industrial power is used in equipment such as oilfield well servicing rigs, with a displacement of 15.33L and a rated power of 485kW. Its cylinder head features Top-Down cooling technology, the valve cover uses vibration-damping rubber seals, and the oil pan adopts a fully suspended structure. Integrated oil cooling/filtration modules and fuel filtration modules further enhance reliability, reduce vibration and noise, and lower maintenance costs.
The WP13 methanol engine for industrial power, with a displacement of 12.54L and a rated power of 320kW, is adapted as the primary power source for electric drilling rigs in oilfields. It uses dedicated components and green methanol fuel, reducing pollutant emissions by 80% compared to diesel. With 90% commonality across seven major dedicated parts, it offers cleaner operation and better cost efficiency.
Compared to commercial vehicle power solutions, these four products demonstrate Weichai's consistent pursuit of power, fuel efficiency, economy, and reliability, showcasing its comprehensive strengths in technological progress, product R&D, intelligent manufacturing, and service quality.
